American-curriculum and IB school on a 46-acre estate in Thorpe, Surrey, serving around 650 day and boarding students aged 3-18 from more than 70 nationalities. Annual fees for 2026-27 run from GBP 15,600 (Pre-K) to GBP 37,170 (Grades 9-12 day)…
In brief
A long-established American international school on a 46-acre Surrey campus near Thorpe, offering a US high school diploma alongside AP courses and the IB Diploma for ages 3 to 18, with day and boarding places.
Founded in 1976 as the English sibling of TASIS Switzerland, the school draws heavily from American expatriate families on London postings, with a meaningful international mix and some British families choosing it for the US route. Class sizes are small, pastoral care is a stated priority, and the campus blends a Georgian manor with modern teaching and arts buildings.
Families describe a welcoming community, attentive teachers, and a school where children settle quickly, which matters for short corporate or diplomatic postings. SEN provision is light beyond mild dyslexia and ADHD, enrolment has fluctuated, and families staying past two or three years sometimes find the academic ceiling lower than at top London independents. Best fit for households wanting an American or hybrid US-IB pathway in a calm, leafy setting rather than a high-pressure London day-school.

Reviews
- TASIS England is the long-standing American school in Surrey, with around 700 day and boarding students from over 60 nationalities.
- Alumni and parent voice is plentiful but bimodal: graduates speak warmly about the experience and the diversity, while some American expats who chose UK schools describe TASIS peers as pretentious or describe the curriculum as easier than UK alternatives.
- The American-bubble character is repeatedly named: third-culture kids report a strong but somewhat insulated community, with a parents' association and buddy system that ease relocation.
- Academic results sit in the middle range for an international school: 2024 IB average 33 with 100% pass rate, AP pass rate around 90%.
- Older expat-forum reviews flag waning enrolment and Ofsted issues at one point; more recent voices do not echo this and the IB / AP pass rates suggest stabilisation.
- Cost is high: fees range roughly £13k to £36k a year, with boarding adding meaningfully on top.
- Best fit signal: families on shorter UK postings who want continuity with the US system; less obvious fit for families committed to staying long-term in the UK.

Thank you for your interest in TASIS England, a learning community in which students are challenged by the academic program, welcomed by their new peers, and engaged in a host of sports and activities that promote their well-being. Ideally situated on a beautiful campus in Surrey, the School provides the dual benefits of a safe environment within easy reach of all that a vibrant and dynamic city like London has to offer. Whether you are entrusting us with the education and care of your child as a boarding student or you are a family relocating to the UK, the importance we place on developing enduring relationships throughout our community results in a caring and supportive environment. I am amazed at how well the faculty and staff at TASIS England balance the challenge of a rigorous curriculum with the care provided by our pastoral support programs. Boarding students arriving on our campus find a network of support provided by their House Parents, teachers, and advisors that will help them settle in quickly and feel “at home” within our campus community. They soon develop friendships as they live, learn, and socialize with other boarding and day students. If you are moving to the UK, your family will be personally supported with a wealth of information by our parent groups and assigned a buddy family to ease your transition and help you navigate the difficulties inherent in any relocation. The more quickly you and your children get settled, the sooner you can enjoy all that our School has to offer. TASIS England inspires a passion for learning throughout our day and boarding programs. Your children will be encouraged to take ownership of their learning and to contribute to their community. At TASIS England they will gain independence, responsibility, respect, and a sense of creativity through the development of relationships that will transcend their time at our School. Quite simply, we are developing the leaders of the future by going above and beyond in every aspect of school life. Your children will benefit from and contribute to our School, not only by excelling in academics, but also by developing the attributes of compassion, empathy, respect, and gratitude. We invite you to join the TASIS England family and gain from, and contribute to, our community of learners.
