A long-established Lagos through-school with a blended British and Nigerian curriculum, day and boarding from secondary.

Emerald started in 1995 as a nursery and primary in Lagos and grew into a full through-school, with day provision and boarding from secondary upwards. The curriculum mixes British and Nigerian streams across pre-school to secondary, with WAEC and IGCSE preparation in the senior years. Most families here are Nigerian, and the school positions itself on academic results and Christian-influenced character development.

Parent voice on Emerald is mixed and small in volume. Families who like it talk about strong teachers and steady academic progress. The persistent criticism is around how the school handles bullying and discipline, with at least one detailed account describing a serious incident where the parent felt the response from leadership was too soft. Worth probing this directly during a visit, particularly for families with younger or quieter children.

  • The public parent pool is small and polarised. Two reviews on the International Schools Database, written three years apart, push in opposite directions.
  • A January 2022 parent wrote that academically the school is "doing great, but in the issue of bullying zero!!", flagging that bullying problems were not checked by school management.
  • A January 2025 parent gave a "Fantastic" five-star rating, describing it as "a great school where role models are raised".
  • Beyond those two voices, the public surface is the school's own marketing, which trades on long history (founded 1995) and WAEC results.
  • No Reddit, Mumsnet or independent expat-forum discussion surfaces, so a single negative voice on bullying carries weight relative to the size of the pool.
  • Parents considering the school will want to test how bullying is now managed, given the gap between the 2022 complaint and the 2025 endorsement.
