  • Founded in 1977 as the first bilingual school in the Gulf, Al-Bayan Bilingual School (BBS) is consistently named as one of Kuwait's top private schools alongside AIS and ASK. The signal is highly polarised between recent acute concerns and longer-standing positive history.
  • A single ISD review from August 2025 is one star across the board, alleging that bullying is encouraged or ignored and that students are repeatedly moved between classes until they lose confidence. That account is one voice, but specific.
  • A Reddit submission asking for current staff insight notes that ISR reviews exist but the parent wants direct teacher perspective. Another commenter, an ex-teacher, refers darkly to survivors of the school and warns about housing problems, late pay and passport confiscation. Treat staff complaints as separate from the parent picture.
  • Older parent material on Expat Exchange and ischooladvisor frames BBS positively. Reviewers describe a demanding bilingual curriculum, an active PTA, an open-door staff culture, and high-quality bilingual peer cohort. University outcomes are reported as 100 percent placement, with around half of graduates going to US universities including UCLA, Berkeley and USC.
  • Counter-criticism from older parent commentary is also present. The high school is described as rigorous to the point of leaving little time for extracurriculars; some families say compulsory Arabic and Islamic studies feel ill-fitted for students aiming at North American or European universities; older facility complaints describe drafty and noisy classrooms.
  • One r/teenagers comment from May 2023 said the school was just OK and complained about tiny desks and noise.
