The AEFE-network French school for KL, a long-established option opened in 1962 with around 680 students from forty-plus nationalities.

LFKL runs the full French national curriculum from maternelle through terminale, with a European section, teachers certified by the French Ministry of Education, and English-language teaching delivered by qualified native speakers. The school is non-profit, governed by a parent board, and sits at Jalan Dutamas Raya near Mont Kiara, the expat suburb where most French families settle.

Since February 2025 LFKL has shared its Eurocampus site with Deutsche Schule Kuala Lumpur, with joint sports and outdoor facilities. Parents praise the rapid bilingual progression, recently upgraded science labs, two pools, two gyms and a turf pitch, and a school culture they describe as engaged and parent-connected. Fees from around MYR 30,000 to MYR 63,000 sit below most British-curriculum schools in KL, which is why French-speaking families often see it as the strongest value-for-money option in the city. The right school for a family planning a return to France or another AEFE posting.

  • The school is a non-profit run by a parent board, with around 680 students from over 40 nationalities, drawing the bulk of the French expat community in KL.
  • Parent feedback on directories is generally positive on facilities, qualified teachers, the bilingual environment, and the social atmosphere among families.
  • One ex-parent voice said the lycée "ne fait que se dégrader d'année en année," pointing to shrinking budgets and rising fees against falling service quality.
  • One directory review pushes harder, calling out weak project work and an incompetent head; this is a single voice and sits against a generally positive small pool.
  • Mont Kiara is the de-facto LFKL neighbourhood, which shapes the pickup, the social scene, and how integrated families feel.
