In brief
A long-running independent school on Hail Street in Al Ruwais, offering both American and British tracks under one roof.
Al-Kon (sometimes branded Al-Kon Global) opened in 2000 and runs separate US and British curriculum sections. It is a recognised British Council and Cambridge IGCSE, AS and A-Level test centre, with the American track culminating in a US high school diploma path. Cognia accreditation through the AdvancED legacy backs the international claim. Fees sit toward the moderate end of the Jeddah market.
The community is broad and locally rooted, drawing Saudi families and expatriate residents in the western neighbourhoods rather than the diplomatic-circuit set who cluster at AISJ and BISJ. Parents tend to praise specific subject teachers and the IGCSE results record. The mix of two parallel curricula in one campus is a strength for siblings on different tracks but means the school is not a deeply branded American or British school in the way the higher-fee competitors are.
Reviews
- Reviews split between US/UK-curriculum praise and pointed administrative complaints. Recent YaSchools entries highlight rigorous academics, strong IGCSE outcomes and supportive staff.
- Crowding comes up. One parent simply said "very good school but too crowded".
- WhichSchoolAdvisor's review flags transparency: "the school provides little information about its ownership, leadership or origins" and notes no published IGCSE/AS/A-Level results.
- Older reviews include sharp staff criticism ("the worst ever and especially teachers") and complaints about communication systems and fee inflexibility.
- Facilities claims are extensive (multiple gyms, two pools, science and robotics labs) but are mainly self-reported through the school site rather than visible in independent reviews.
