Birla Open Minds Kollur is DSR Educational Society's K-12 school, opened January 2013 on a 10-acre Outer Ring Road campus. The Society took the Birla Open Minds brand under partnership with Birla Open Minds Ltd. Mumbai and now runs CBSE alongside Cambridge IGCSE and the IB Career-related Programme.

DSR Educational Society sits inside DSR Infrastructure, a 40-year-old real-estate and construction group. The Hyderabad arm ran two Globe Tot'ers Birla preschools (2010 and 2012) before launching the K-12 school in 2013. Cambridge curriculum was added from Grade 5 in 2016; IB Career-related Programme followed later. Dr Syamali Chowdhury heads the school.

Parent commentary skews strongly positive: families cite Principal approachability, compassion, transparency, and rapid response to feedback. Grade 12 IBCP exam results from the 2025 cohort were publicly celebrated. The Kollur Outer Ring Road location places the school southwest of central Gachibowli, on a 10-acre campus with green-school certification (IGBC standard).

Families on the Outer Ring Road stretch from Kollur out toward Gachibowli and Kokapet tend to put this school on the same shortlist as Samashti, DPS Kollur, Meru and Gaudium, and the day-to-day verdict is warm. Parents describe staff who learn each child by name and a campus that pushes sport and all-round development as hard as marks. The friction sits around the edges: the road outside the gate, how quickly admissions and front-office staff come back to you, and a fee bill that climbs every year on a campus this far west.

Positives

  • Knows each child by name. Parents single out teachers and aides who learn every child by name, with a settled, inclusive feel and a focus on raising confident, well-rounded students rather than chasing grades alone.
  • Sport and all-round development. Strong emphasis on sport and co-curriculars comes up repeatedly. One family of a national-level young athlete describes a scholarship and active encouragement to keep training alongside lessons.
  • Standing on the local shortlist. On west Hyderabad admissions threads the school lands on most Kollur and Tellapur shortlists, and other parents tend to vouch for it as a solid, good-campus choice when families ask around.
  • Daily parent updates. The communication app and regular activity notifications draw praise from working parents who want to follow the day without chasing the school.

Considerations

  • Fees and yearly hikes. Grade 1 tuition is quoted by parents in the region of 2.8 lakh for CBSE and 3.8 lakh for the Cambridge stream, before food and transport, with roughly 10 percent annual increases. Some families also ask for more flexible installment dates.
  • Admissions and management responsiveness. Against the warm classroom picture, a recurring complaint is slow or non-responsive admissions and front-office handling, and the sense that some queries raised with staff do not get answered promptly.
  • Road outside the campus. The condition of the road directly in front of the school, on the Outer Ring Road approach southwest of Gachibowli, comes up as a real daily stress for parents on the run, and the distance from home is a drawback for some.
