Kellett School Hong Kong
Kellett School is a well-established British curriculum school founded in 1976, serving students aged 3-18 with IGCSE and A-Level pathways across multiple Hong Kong campuses. Teachers consistently praise the school's excellent facilities, strong student body, and supportive working environment, though…
In brief
Located across Kowloon Bay and Pok Fu Lam campuses, Kellett follows the English National Curriculum from Foundation Stage through A-Levels, with students typically taking 8-11 IGCSEs before selecting 3-4 A-Level subjects. The school operates a non-selective admissions policy yet achieves strong university placements to institutions including Cambridge, UCL, Edinburgh, and Melbourne. Recent expansion includes a dedicated Sixth Form Centre opening in 2026/27 at The Bay Hub, plus major refurbishment of the original Pok Fu Lam campus starting summer 2026 to enhance classrooms, library, gym, and specialist facilities.
Teacher discussions highlight Kellett as an excellent workplace with strong leadership, good professional development opportunities, and quality resources, though staff note limited internal progression opportunities as teachers rarely leave. The school's A-Level pathway rather than IB may disadvantage some non-British teachers, while the absence of housing provision is offset by competitive salaries including substantial annual bonuses of 22% of salary. Parent feedback emphasizes the school's strong sense of identity and forward-thinking educational policies, including consideration of following UK independent school trends in IGCSE subject selection.

Reviews
The reputation that comes through is consistent. As one teacher put it, "A*-A at GCSE was up to 85% last year and 61% at A-Level" on a non-selective intake, with "incredibly high" senior staff retention and a pay package that reportedly tops the league for international roles. Family demand backs this up: the school is "full in every year group" with waiting lists of "100+ lower down." Among Hong Kong British schools outside the major chains, Kellett is consistently named alongside CIS as a top non-network option.
The main thing currently in flux is leadership. The CEO departed abruptly in 2024 and the new Principal, who arrived from the British School of Tokyo, has landed well inside Hong Kong so far. The other recurring practical concern is the two-campus transition between primary and secondary.
