Originally located in Kennedy Town before relocating to a new Sai Kung campus in 2013, HKA has grown from its three student founding to serve over 550 students across the full IB continuum. Hong Kong Academy began in Kennedy Town in 2000 and moved to its Sai Kung campus in 2013. It is one of Hong Kong's eight schools authorised for all three IB programmes, running the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma programmes for pupils aged three to eighteen, and is accredited by CIS and WASC. In 2025 the school reported a Diploma average of 32 points with every candidate passing. Annual fees run from HKD 229,500 in kindergarten to HKD 273,900 in Grades 11 and 12, with a one-off family debenture of HKD 630,000.

Learner support is its clearest strength, with a multi-tier programme for special educational needs and 10 to 15 per cent of pupils on individual plans.
