In brief
Hanoi's only fully American-curriculum, AP-track international school, run as a Lutheran-affiliated non-profit on a purpose-built campus inside the Van Tri Golf compound in Dong Anh.
Concordia opened in 2011 with fifty students in a converted office in CMC Tower and moved to its permanent Van Tri campus in 2016. WASC-accredited, around 555 students, and now part of the Concordia family that includes Hong Kong International School and Concordia Shanghai. The AP pathway, with dual-credit options through Concordia University Wisconsin, is the natural fit for families targeting US college admissions.
Parent voice is unusually consistent on the warmth of the community, leadership accessibility and strong pastoral support for kids landing mid-year. The catch is geography. Van Tri is a forty-plus-minute drive from Tay Ho on a good day, so the bus network and willingness to live further north matter more than the marketing brochures admit.

Reviews
- forum threads from teachers and prospective applicants consistently rank Concordia Hanoi alongside UNIS as one of the two top international schools in the city. One r/VietNam comment said "UNIS and Concordia are considered the top schools in Hanoi."
- One ex-student wrote that they "spent the entirety of my hs time at Concordia International School Hanoi" while applying to US universities, indicating the senior pathway is producing US-college applicants.
- Parents on directory testimonial pages describe responsive teachers, strong early-grade academic progress and a family-oriented atmosphere; one parent called it "the best school in Hanoi, hands down". Treat directory testimonials as marketing-leaning.
- The Van Tri campus, opened in 2016, sits in Dong Anh district near the West Lake expat belt; commuting from central Hanoi is a recurring practical consideration.
- Lutheran-founded; teachers note it is "much less religious" than Concordia Shanghai.
- Smaller and newer than UNIS; senior-school cohort is still building, which limits the depth of parent commentary on Diploma outcomes.
