The first overseas campus of Fettes College Edinburgh, opened in September 2020 as a joint venture with Country Garden Education. A 33-acre full-boarding and day campus in Phoenix City, Zengcheng District, on the eastern edge of Guangzhou.

Bilingual primary blends the Chinese national curriculum with IB-style inquiry, then the senior school runs IGCSE and A-Level. Around 800 students at full build. COBIS, BSA and WASC recognised. Helen Harrison leads. Boarding is the centrepiece, with small-scale houses staffed by mixed Chinese and expatriate house parents and academic advisors.

Facilities are unusually expansive even by China standards: equestrian centre, indoor ski slope, two pools, dedicated performing arts and STEAM hubs. The first graduates landed places at Oxford, Cambridge, Durham, UCL, Edinburgh and London music conservatoires. The Country Garden operating connection is the practical tradeoff: families get scale and infrastructure, with the school still building independent track record. Best fit for families committed to UK or Hong Kong university routes who want a boarding option without leaving the Greater Bay Area.

  • Teacher reports describe an authoritarian leadership style, high turnover and concerns being dismissed; one Glassdoor review goes as far as flagging child-safety concerns being ignored.
  • One commenters living in Guangzhou is explicit: don't take a job here.
  • Parent-facing parent trackers carry no independent parent reviews; the school is recent (2020 opening), so much of the surfaced material is launch-era PR or marketing.
  • The campus and facilities are striking on paper, with COBIS, BSA, WASC, NEASC and CIE accreditations stacked early; that's the operator's effort, not third-party signal of classroom experience.
