Deutsche Schule Genf
State-subsidised German overseas school in Vernier founded in 1975, part of the global network of 136 German schools abroad funded by the Federal Republic of Germany. With fees well below market rate - from CHF 11,625 (Kindergarten) to CHF 15,480…
In brief
Geneva's German overseas school, founded in 1975 in Vernier, partially funded by the German Federal Foreign Office and serving around 440 students from age 3 to 18.
The school runs the German curriculum on a Gymnasium track that leads to the Deutsches Internationales Abitur, recognised as equivalent to the Swiss Matura and the French Baccalauréat. Civic programming leans into Geneva's international institutions, with regular visits to the WTO and UN. ZFA accreditation confirms it as a recognised German school abroad.
Fees of roughly CHF 11,600 to CHF 15,500 sit well below the Geneva international school market because of the German government subsidy, which is the practical draw for German-speaking families. The community is tight and long-tenured. Non-German-speaking families realistically cannot use this school, since instruction is in German throughout. Class sizes are small and the feel is closer to a neighbourhood German Gymnasium than to a typical Geneva international school.
