ZfA-recognised German overseas school in Al Maamoura, opened in October 2008 and awarded the Excellent German School Abroad seal in 2018. Kindergarten through to Abitur, with a bilingual German/English IB Diploma in Grades 11 and 12.

The curriculum is built on the Thuringia state programme, adapted to the Qatari Supreme Education Council's requirements. The dual offer of Abitur plus a bilingual IB is the practical draw for families who want a route home to a German university or onwards to an English-medium one. Numbers are small in the way of most German schools abroad, which keeps class sizes low.

Parents speak warmly about the teaching standard, the kindergarten atmosphere and the small-school feel where teachers know every child. The school suits families who already have German at home, given how early in the journey the immersion starts. The German embassy oversight and the KMK quality assurance give the institution a stability that newer schools in the city cannot yet match.

  • Parents who write publicly are overwhelmingly positive on staff dedication, small classes and the German IB pathway. One parent of five years said they have "never been more comfortable knowing my children were in the best of hands".
  • The bicultural German-IB combination is the headline draw, described by one parent as "unique in Qatar" and a route to study at universities anywhere.
  • One former student, who joined at 11 and left after Year 6 for Doha British, called it "rather small and not that great" before completing IGCSE and IB elsewhere; small scale is the recurring caveat.
  • Glassdoor staff reviews flag leadership and resourcing tensions: complaints about "lack of direction", thin SEN support and pressure to take on overwhelming responsibilities.
  • The school carries the German government's "Excellent German School Abroad" quality seal from BLI inspection.
