A small British primary school in Al Dafna that families consistently describe in warm, family-business terms rather than corporate-school terms.

Cardiff International School opened in 2013 on a primary-only footprint, FS1 to Year 6, on University Road opposite Qatar University. The curriculum is the National Curriculum for England with EYFS, taught by a primarily British-trained team. Around 450 pupils.

The consistent thread in parent feedback is attentiveness. Families describe staff who know the children, a calm environment, and a school small enough that parental involvement actually matters. Several long-staying families cite kindergarten through Year 6 as a positive single-school journey.

The structural caveat is the most obvious one: there is no secondary provision, so families need a follow-on plan from Year 7. Best fit for parents wanting a gentler, more personal primary experience before moving on to one of the larger Doha senior schools.

DB note: founded year is missing in the DB; external sources record 2013.

  • Parents trend strongly positive on teaching, child-centred care and the British/Cambridge curriculum delivery, with one parent describing the British curriculum as transforming their child's learning experience.
  • A former student who attended kindergarten through year 6 said they had the best time there.
  • Staff side tells a different story. Teachers describe weak retention, with one stating the school always needs teachers because they rarely keep teachers longer than a year, and complaints about no overtime pay and shared housing arrangements.
  • HR and management drew sharp criticism from staff, with claims management prioritises money over staff and student wellbeing.
  • Independent parent voices are thin on the ground and skew positive, but turnover and management concerns sit on the staff side and are a real factor here for families considering long-term continuity.

Positives

  • Teaching and curriculum delivery. Parent reviews credit Cambridge/British curriculum and attentive staff for child progress
  • Child-centred care. Parents repeatedly highlight pastoral attention and a caring environment

Considerations

  • Teacher retention. Staff reviews describe rapid turnover and report teachers rarely stay beyond a year
  • Management and HR. Employee reviews flag perceived profit-first management and shared accommodation arrangements
  • Independent discussion. Reddit and parent forums carry little independent discussion; signal leans on directory and Indeed reviews
