The Lords' International School

A single-campus, owner-run Cambridge school in Perungalathur on Chennai's southern fringe, pitched at families who want the full Cambridge ladder without the fees of the city's marquee international schools.

Founded in 2005 by the Kumaraguru family, with the late former Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker Munu Adhi as a founding trustee, the school runs the complete Cambridge pathway from kindergarten through Primary, Lower Secondary, IGCSE and AS and A Level. It is led by director Mrs. Manjula Kumaraguru, who holds a Cambridge education diploma. Ages run from 2.5 to 19, coeducational and English medium.

The recurring draw is value: parents describe fees that sit well below other Chennai IGCSE schools, alongside small classes and teachers they rate. Infrastructure is seen as strong for the Perungalathur area, though the location is a long way south of central Chennai. Seats are limited and admissions can be competitive. Families who stay tend to talk warmly about how their children settle: quieter kids drawn out into sports and activities, a low pupil-to-teacher count, and staff parents describe as patient and approachable. The flip side that surfaces is administrative rather than academic. The collection of fees draws the sharpest words, with parents describing pointed messages and repeated calls to the school when a payment runs even a couple of days late, and at least one parent reporting teaching that felt like it lost ground after the pandemic, with little extra help for a child who was struggling. Seats are few and grades run only one or two sections deep, so the experience hinges heavily on the particular teachers a child lands with.
