In brief
Uppingham School's first overseas campus, opened September 2024 on a 10-acre site in New Giza overlooking the Pyramids. Run by New Era Education in partnership with Bloom (UAE) and New Giza Development, with the UK Uppingham brand and academic oversight.
Co-educational, K-12 path leading to IGCSE then a choice of IB Diploma or A Level. Headmistress Emma Webb came in from a Jakarta posting. Inspected by ISI and a COBIS Patrons' Association school, BSME member. The campus build, sports facilities and staff hires have been the visible pull in year one.
Day-only at present, with day-boarding sold as a structured wraparound model rather than residential boarding. Fees are private and have to be requested. Too new for substantial parent voice across forums, so the read is largely from the brand pitch and the early intake. Families weighing it should compare directly against the established New Cairo British schools on the east side, since location is the first practical filter.
Reviews
Brand-new and still building a track record. The school opened in September 2024 as the first overseas campus of UK Uppingham, run in Egypt by New Era Education on a 10-acre NewGiza site west of Cairo with views to the Pyramids. Year-one accreditation came through (BSO via ISI, plus COBIS and BSME). Outside the official channels there is almost nothing public to go on, which is normal for a school in its second year.
Positives
- UK brand, local operator. Carries the Uppingham name but is delivered in Egypt by New Era Education. The UK school's involvement is partnership rather than direct operation.
- Accreditation in year one. Picked up BSO accreditation through ISI inspection in its first year of operation, along with COBIS and BSME membership.
- Campus and setting. 10-acre purpose-built site in NewGiza off the Cairo-Alex Road, with the Pyramids on the horizon. Day school across the full 3 to 18 range.
- Curriculum at the top end. British through Year 11 with IGCSE, then a choice of A levels or the IB Diploma in the sixth form.
Considerations
- Track record still forming. No leaver cohort yet and no public exam results. The senior years are being built up one intake at a time, so the school families enrol into is genuinely a work in progress.
- Independent parent commentary. Public discussion from families is sparse. The signal that exists is the school's own channels and the local English-language press covering the opening and the announced 2028 sister campus in East Cairo.
- Commute. NewGiza sits west of the city on the Cairo-Alex Road. Manageable from 6th of October and Sheikh Zayed; a long run from Maadi, New Cairo, and the east-side compounds.
