The first overseas campus of the Saxony International School network from Germany, running a German-language curriculum and IB Diploma in 6th of October.

SIS Cairo West opened in 2021 in O West, 6th of October City. It is the first international branch of the Saxony International School group, a network of private schools in eastern Germany. Teaching is based on the Saxon state curriculum, supplemented to international standards, with an IB Diploma offered at the senior end. Class sizes are deliberately small.

Families who chose SIS Cairo West early on speak about the wellbeing focus, manageable homework, and the freedom for children to keep hobbies alongside school. Academic progress in small classes is praised. The school is still young and parents acknowledge the administrative side is still maturing. The natural fit is for German-speaking families, families planning a return to Germany, or those who want an alternative to the dominant British and American Cairo offer. Fees run from roughly EGP 186,000 to 264,000.

A young German-rooted school in O West, 6th of October City, opened in 2021 as the first overseas campus of the Saxony International School group from Glauchau. Small classes, German subject teachers, and an IB Diploma pathway sit alongside Saxon-style instruction in German, Arabic, Spanish, and Chinese. The campus itself, with pool, open-air theatre, and a sizeable library, draws warm comment. The flip side of a new school shows in the operational layer: bussing and parent communication are where families flag teething.

Positives

  • Campus and facilities. Purpose-built O West campus with pool, library, and open-air theatre. Visitors comment on the scale and finish.
  • Teaching and class size. Small cohorts and German subject specialists. Families describe steady academic progress without homework overload.
  • Languages and curriculum. Saxon-style German curriculum running into the IB Diploma, with Arabic, Spanish, and Chinese in the timetable.
  • Group and provenance. Operated by the Saxony International School - Carl Hahn gGmbH network out of Glauchau, Germany. SIS Cairo West is the group's first overseas branch.

Considerations

  • Administration and communication. Parents flag the administrative layer, bussing logistics and parent communication, as the area still finding its feet.
  • Track record. Opened in 2021, so the IB Diploma cohort and long-run university outcomes are not yet established.
