Summit International School

A US-curriculum school in central Abu Dhabi serving just over 1,000 students, predominantly from the Jordanian and Levantine community.

A US-curriculum school in central Abu Dhabi serving just over 1,000 students, predominantly from the Jordanian and Levantine community.

Curriculum is California Common Core through to a US High School Diploma, accredited by the Middle States Association. ADEK rates the school Very Good in the most recent inspection round, with English and mathematics rated Very Good across all phases and PISA and TIMSS results coming in respectably for the curriculum band.

The school's demographic profile is its defining feature, and families looking for a strong Arabic-language environment alongside an English-medium US programme tend to find a natural fit here. Pastoral care and teacher accessibility come up consistently in parent feedback. Fees sit in the affordable tier. For families wanting a more expat-international US option, ACS Abu Dhabi and American Community School sit at a much higher price point and a different community profile.

An American-curriculum all-through school on Abu Dhabi island, MSA-accredited and lately on an upward curve. The ADEK rating moved from Good to Very Good in the most recent inspection cycle, and the principal picked up Best Principal at the ADEK Awards in 2025. Mid-range fees, a predominantly Jordanian roll, and a settled leadership team give the place a stable, community feel. Strengths sit in the lower phases and in pastoral care; the upper school is where the pickier questions land.

Positives

  • Inspection trajectory. ADEK rating stepped up to Very Good in the latest cycle, with English and maths Very Good across all phases. Governance also moved up a band.
  • Pastoral care and behaviour. Behaviour, safeguarding and pastoral provision sit at Very Good. Parents talk about staff knowing children by name and easing settling-in for new arrivals.
  • Leadership. Lee Dabagia has led the school since 2018 and won Best Principal at the ADEK Awards in 2025. Inspectors describe the senior team as strong and proactive.
  • Value at this price point. Fees run roughly AED 27,640 to 38,630 across the grades, which is mid-range for an American curriculum school in Abu Dhabi with a Very Good inspection.
  • Extracurricular range. Inspectors single out the breadth of clubs and activities across academic, creative, cultural and sporting strands. Facilities include a pool, gym, theatre and labs across a four-building campus.

Considerations

  • Stretch for high attainers. Inspectors flag that the most able students are not consistently extended in upper phases, and AP and senior elective options remain limited compared with bigger American schools in the city.
  • Teaching quality tapers in upper school. Teaching is Very Good in early years and the lower phases but drops to Good further up. The harder questions tend to land on Grade 9 to 12.
  • Single-sex from Grade 5. Co-educational through Grade 4, then split into single-sex classes from Grade 5. A structural feature of the school, not a quality signal either way.
  • University destinations data. Published information on graduate outcomes and counselling support is thin. Parents looking at the high school typically have to ask for the destinations list directly.
  • Location. Sits in Al Danah, central Abu Dhabi island. Easy if you live on the island, less so for families out in the suburbs even with bus routes laid on.
